White City Sculpture

White City Sculpture is a permanent environmental artwork by Dani Karavan in Edith Wolfson Park, Tel Aviv-Yafo. Set on a landscaped rise near HaShalom Road, it is conceived less as a freestanding object than as a sequence of planes, steps, terraces, and pathways that visitors move through as much as around. The work’s white concrete geometry references Tel Aviv’s White City in an abstract, non-literal way. Karavan uses the hilltop as both base and room, turning topography into a walkable civic marker and a framed viewing platform. The result is a sculptural landscape in which promenade, pause, orientation, and long city views are integral to the experience. Materially restrained and spatially open, the piece blurs the line between monument and public landscape. Its minimalist form and gentle terrain create a quiet urban landmark that is as much about movement and horizon as it is about sculpture itself.
